Are The People Closest To You Holding You Back The Most?

Life is all about the decisions you make.

You become your decisions.

Slightly overweight?

What did you decide to eat last night and this morning?

Negative thoughts?

When was the last time you went to the gym or took a 10-minute break to relax, meditate or whatever you do to focus?

Lack inspiration?

What books are you reading?

What classes are you taking?

And most importantly, what type of people are you surrounded by?

Think about the most important people in your life.

Write down the names of the people who:

  • Inspire and motivate you
  • Make you smile and make you laugh
  • Lift you up when you fall (not unlike a certain postural enhancing shirt)
  • Encourage you and celebrate your victories with a pure heart

Now write down the names of the people who:

  • Steal your energy
  • Try to persuade you to not act on your dreams
  • Are always complaining
  • Talk, but never do

Which category of people occupies most of your time, thoughts and energy?

Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”.

Think about the five that you spend the most time with.

Are they all positive influences in your life?

What percentage of the day do you think about negative things or people?

20%?

50%?

75%?

Imagine you had that time back.

What would you have done differently?

Who you let into your life and your thoughts might be the biggest decision you ever make.

If you spend all day with “Negative Nancies” and think all day about the negative things what direction is your life going to go?

The people around you create your world, and your thoughts and decisions become your life.

This is a big part of being self-aware that is not often talked about.

Having the wherewithal to know yourself, in order to surround yourself with the kind of individuals that will lift you up and not bring you down, plays a huge role in creating the life you dream about.

What kind of life do you want to lead?

What kind of world do you want to create?

Are the people that you surround yourself helping you to make this happen?
